Corfu to Paxos Ferry (2026): Hydrofoils, Ports, Tickets & Flight Connections
The sea crossing from Corfu to Paxos is the easy part. The part that catches people out is everything around it: which Corfu port your boat actually leaves from, whether your flight lands early enough to make it, and whether you are looking at a scheduled ferry or a sightseeing cruise that comes back to Corfu the same day. Once those three things are clear, getting to Paxos is remarkably straightforward.
My own planning lesson: when I arranged this route, I found it much more useful to work backward from the ferry departure than to book a flight to Corfu first and hope the connection worked.
Paxos itself is covered separately in my Paxos travel guide; here I stay focused on the transfer between Corfu and the port at Gaios.
What the Corfu–Paxos Route Looks Like in 2026
The market is better than it was a few years ago. Kerkyra Lines added the PAXOS ISLAND II hydrofoil in June 2026, with a published 55-minute crossing, while Ionian Blue Wave/Paxos Lines operates the ILIDA Dolphin hydrofoil and NINEMIA conventional ferry from Corfu New Port. Kamelia Lines also serves Paxos from Lefkimmi in southern Corfu.
Current September listings show several daytime options from Corfu Town, but exact times change by date and season. I would use live booking data for the travel day rather than copy a timetable that may be wrong a few weeks later.
| Route / vessel type | Typical 2026 time | Best for | Important detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| Corfu Town → Gaios hydrofoil | About 55 min | Most fly-in travelers | Fast, passenger-focused service; several operators publish this crossing time. |
| Corfu Town → Gaios conventional ferry | About 1h 20m–1h 45m | Travelers happy to trade speed for a conventional vessel | Journey time depends heavily on vessel and operator. |
| Lefkimmi → Paxos | From about 45 min | People already staying in South Corfu | Shorter sea crossing, but Lefkimmi is much farther from Corfu Airport. |
| Private boat / water taxi | Roughly around 1 hr | Groups or awkward flight times | Much more expensive; arrange in advance. |
Compare the Live Ferry Times Before You Book the Flight
This is the one route where I would check the ferry first and build the flight connection around it.
Fast Ferry / Hydrofoil
Best when the priority is getting from Corfu Town to Paxos as quickly as possible.

Conventional Ferry
Useful when the schedule or price works better and you do not mind a longer crossing.

For a useful price anchor, Paxos Lines currently publishes a one-way adult fare from €20 on its conventional NINEMIA ferry and €30 on the ILIDA Dolphin hydrofoil when booked direct. Other operators and resellers can differ, so I would still compare the exact sailing you want rather than assume one fixed route price.
Corfu Town Port or Lefkimmi? This Choice Matters More Than It Looks
What Is the Hydrofoil Actually Like?
The hydrofoil is a fast passenger vessel rather than a traditional open-deck Greek ferry. The current Corfu Town–Paxos hydrofoils publish crossing times of about 55 minutes, which makes them particularly useful when you are continuing directly from a flight.
I would choose one for speed, not because the sea is guaranteed to feel smooth. Small fast vessels can move noticeably in choppier conditions. If you are prone to motion sickness, take your usual precautions before boarding rather than once the boat is underway.
Kerkyra Lines now operates both PAXOS ISLAND and the newer PAXOS ISLAND II hydrofoils on the route, while Ionian Blue Wave/Paxos Lines publishes a 55-minute crossing for ILIDA Dolphin. Kerkyra Lines’ current fleet information confirms the 2026 addition.
When a Conventional Ferry Makes More Sense
I would not automatically pay more just to save 25–50 minutes. If the conventional sailing fits your flight better, leaves at a more convenient time, or is cheaper, it can be the smarter choice.
Ionian Blue Wave/Paxos Lines currently publishes about 1 hour 20 minutes for NINEMIA. Other conventional or multi-stop services can take longer, so look at the duration shown for the exact sailing rather than assuming every “regular ferry” is the same.
If you need to transport a car, scooter, bicycle or pet, check the vessel rules before paying. Many of the fastest services are aimed at foot passengers, and vehicle acceptance is not universal on this route.
Corfu Airport to the Paxos Ferry: How Much Connection Time Do You Need?
Corfu Airport is close to Corfu Town, but I would never treat a 10–15 minute taxi ride as a 15-minute flight-to-ferry connection. You still have to get off the aircraft, collect bags, reach the port, find the right operator and board before check-in closes.

Private Corfu Airport–Port Transfer
A taxi is normally enough, but a pre-booked transfer can be useful if you want someone waiting after the flight or are traveling with children or several bags.

Booking Tickets: Direct With the Operator or Through a Comparison Site?
I use comparison sites when I want to see several operators and departure times together, especially because the Corfu–Paxos market now has more than one fast option. But it is also worth checking the operator’s own price before paying.
For example, Paxos Lines explicitly says its direct price can be lower than third-party platforms for the same hydrofoil seat. That does not make comparison sites useless—their strength is showing competing sailings in one place—but it is a good reason to compare before checkout.
- Use a comparison site when you want to see operators, times and journey durations together.
- Check the operator directly if you already know which sailing you want and want to compare the final fare.
- Book ahead in July and August, particularly for popular morning fast ferries.
- Keep the e-ticket handy and arrive with enough time to find the correct embarkation point.
Ionian Blue Wave advises arriving roughly 30–45 minutes before departure; other operators can set different check-in rules, so your own booking confirmation wins.
Where the Ferry Arrives on Paxos
Scheduled ferries arrive at the port by Gaios. For practical purposes, this is the right arrival point for the island, but do not imagine stepping directly onto the prettiest central waterfront with your suitcase.
If your accommodation is in Gaios, the onward transfer is easy. If you are staying in Lakka, Loggos or somewhere more isolated, I would arrange the next leg before arrival rather than count on finding exactly the taxi you need at a busy ferry time.
For the accommodation decision itself, use my where to stay in Paxos guide, which compares Gaios, Lakka, Loggos and quieter parts of the island without turning this ferry guide into a hotel article.
Scheduled Ferry or Paxos–Antipaxos Day Cruise?
These are often mixed together in search results, but they solve completely different problems.
| If you want to… | Book this | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Stay overnight on Paxos | Scheduled ferry / hydrofoil | You arrive with your luggage and continue independently. |
| Move accommodation from Corfu to Paxos | Scheduled ferry / hydrofoil | A sightseeing cruise is not point-to-point transport. |
| See Paxos, Antipaxos and Blue Caves in one day | Organized day cruise | The itinerary is built around sightseeing and returns to Corfu. |
| Travel privately on your own schedule | Private speedboat / water taxi | Highest flexibility, highest cost. |

This is the product I would look at if you are staying on Corfu and want a sightseeing day rather than transport to accommodation on Paxos.

Private Paxos & Antipaxos Speedboat
A private boat makes sense when flexibility matters more than price, particularly for a group. Check carefully whether the product is designed as a tour or can accommodate the point-to-point transfer you actually need.

Luggage, Check-In and Bad Weather
These details are easy to ignore until the day of travel. Paxos Lines currently includes one suitcase up to 20 kg per passenger on its services; other operators set their own allowances, so check the sailing you book.
Fast boats are more sensitive to sea conditions than a huge conventional ferry. Weather can delay or cancel a crossing, and the port authority can stop sailings. Paxos Lines says a weather-cancelled ticket is transferred to the next available crossing.
That is another reason I would not connect the last possible ferry from Paxos to a flight home with no margin.
The Four Mistakes To Avoid
- Booking the flight before checking the ferry. The ferry timetable should shape the arrival day, not the other way around.
- Searching only “Paxos.” Try Paxi and Paxoi too when a booking site appears to show no route.
- Choosing Lefkimmi just because the crossing is shorter. It only saves time if getting to Lefkimmi also makes sense.
- Buying a day cruise when you actually need transportation. The product may return to Corfu with no provision for luggage or an overnight stay.
Corfu to Paxos Ferry FAQs
How long is the ferry from Corfu to Paxos?
The fastest scheduled crossings are about 45–55 minutes, depending on departure port and operator. Conventional services from Corfu Town commonly take around 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes, while slower or indirect options can take longer.
How much is the Corfu to Paxos ferry in 2026?
Prices vary by operator and vessel. As one current official example, Paxos Lines lists adult one-way fares from €20 on NINEMIA and €30 on the ILIDA Dolphin hydrofoil when booked direct. Other operators can be cheaper or more expensive.
Where do Corfu to Paxos ferries leave from?
Most fly-in travelers use Corfu New Port in Corfu Town. Seasonal services also operate from Lefkimmi in southern Corfu, which can be more convenient if you are already staying in that part of the island.
Where do ferries arrive on Paxos?
They arrive at the port by Gaios, the island’s main arrival point. Arrange onward transport in advance if you are staying in Lakka, Loggos or a more isolated property.
Do I need to book Corfu to Paxos ferry tickets in advance?
I would book ahead in July and August, especially for the fast morning services. Outside peak summer, the bigger issue is often reduced frequency, so check the live timetable early even if seats are easier to find.
Can I take luggage on the hydrofoil?
Yes, luggage is allowed, but allowances differ by operator. Paxos Lines currently includes one suitcase up to 20 kg per passenger.
Can I take a car from Corfu to Paxos?
Do not assume every direct Corfu–Paxos vessel carries vehicles. The fast hydrofoils are passenger services, and vehicle acceptance depends on the exact vessel. If taking a car is essential, verify the specific sailing before booking and consider mainland connections via Igoumenitsa if necessary.
Can I get from Corfu Airport to Paxos on the same day?
Often yes if you arrive in the morning or early enough in the afternoon and the seasonal timetable works. Late arrivals are much riskier; if there is no safe connection, stay in Corfu Town and take a ferry the next morning.
Can I visit Paxos as a day trip from Corfu?
Yes. You can either use scheduled ferries and plan your own return, or book an organized Paxos–Antipaxos cruise. The second option is easier if sightseeing is the goal; the first gives you more independence.
How I Will Plan the Crossing Next Time I Visit
If I were booking the trip again, I would start with the exact ferry date, compare Corfu New Port and Lefkimmi, then choose the flight that leaves a sensible buffer. For most people flying into Corfu, a 55-minute hydrofoil from Corfu Town is the cleanest solution; for someone already staying in South Corfu, the shorter Lefkimmi crossing can be smarter.
The useful part is not finding the theoretically fastest boat. It is finding the sailing that still works after you add the airport transfer, check-in time and the possibility of a small delay.
Once the transport is sorted, use my Paxos travel guide for what to do after you arrive and my Paxos accommodation guide if you still need to choose a base.
